Private Storage Aid: Pigmeat

Notification Of New Scheme In Respect Of Pigmeat Being Offered Into Private Storage Under The Terms And Conditions Laid Down In Commission Regulation (EEC) No. 3444/90.

INTRODUCTION

1. Notice to Traders 59/07 informed you of the introduction of a new Pigmeat Private Storage Aid scheme. This notice is to inform you that in accordance with Commission Regulation (EC) No 1267/2007, a scheme providing fixed rates of aid for private storage of pigmeat of Community origin has been opened.
2. Applications may be submitted from 29 October 2007 in accordance with Regulation (EEC) No. 3444/90.

SCHEME REQUIREMENTS

3. The Commission has published the main provisions of the scheme in the Official Journal of the European Community. Based on this information the provisions are to be as follows:

- aid will be payable, subject to the contract, for the storage of half-carcasses and specified cuts. The rates of aid (in euros) and products for which aid is to be granted can be found in the Annex to this notice; and

- the storage period will be for 3, 4 or 5 months. The Commission may however reduce or extend the storage periods if the market situation so requires. The amount of aid will be adjusted accordingly.

4. The minimum quantities per contract and per product will be fixed at:

- 10 tonnes for boned products; and

- 15 tonnes for other products.

APPLICATIONS

5. Should you wish to participate in the scheme you are advised to read the Agency’s explanatory leaflet IM(L)3 before submitting an application. The leaflet will be publiushed on the RPA website or you can contact one of the numbers below for a copy.

6. You should note that the relevant code shown in the annex (A to J) should be used when completing Part B of your contract application form (Form PSP1).

7. Once you have stipulated the period of storage in Part B of your contract application, you will be unable to change it. Failure to comply with the stipulated storage period will result in reduced aid payments and/or security forfeits.

LODGEMENT OF SECURITY

8. Applications must be supported by a security equal to 20% of the total aid payable.
