21/05/08 Amendments to the EU School Milk Subsidy Scheme
 
At the Milk Management Committee on 16 May, a proposal which set out some changes to the EU School Milk Scheme was voted on.
 
The key changes are:
 
-          Member states will be required to offer the scheme to all schools
-          Posters will be required in entrances to schools offering EU Subsidised milk
-          The application period for submission of claims is reduced to 3 months
-          New products eligible for the subsidy have been included.  Member States may decide which to offer.
 
The proposal needs to be formally adopted by the Commission and then published in the Official journal of the European Communities.  We expect that it will apply from 1 August.  Ahead of that, we will be considering how we implement these changes and will consult interested parties.
06/05/08 - Changes to the School Milk Subsidy Regulations

The School Milk Subsidy Regulations are currently being reviewed by the Commission.

The Management Committee will be meeting on the 22 May 2008 and it is anticipated that changes will be finalised on this date.

It is likely that these changes will come into effect on 1 August 2008 in time for the new academic year.

Defra are consulting on the proposed changes. A link to the website is below:

At present we do not have any details but we will update all claimants as soon as we are aware of the changes.

18/12/07 From 1 January 2008 School Milk will carry a single aid rate for all products

Council Regulation (EC) No 1234/2007 was published on 22 October 2007. 
This replaces Council Regulation (EC) No 1255/1999.

Article 102 refers to ‘Aid for the Supply of Milk Products to Pupils’.
 
With effect from 1 January 2008 School Milk will carry a single aid rate for all products.  The aid rate shall be EUR 18,15/ 100 kg
