2006 Single Payment Scheme – payment update

Processing is now complete on 107,973 claims under SPS 2006, with total payments amounting to £1.509 billion out of an estimated total fund of £1.52 billion.

Of these claims, a total of 104,655 have received a full payment and 3,318 have been processed but resulted in no payment being due.

A further 752 claimants have received partial payments and RPA will continue validating these to top up, where applicable.

Processing also continues on 406 claims where no payment has been made to date. Many of these are complex cases involving probate, business partnership changes and domestic issues. It is likely that work on these claims will reveal that some will not be eligible for payment.  Where it is confirmed that payments are due, these will be made as soon as possible.

Notes:

  • This reconciliation exercise has enabled us to identify the number of claims processed which resulted in zero payment.  This situation arises where, for example, customers have claimed for HFA only, hold entitlements for the wrong area type, have submitted duplicate claim forms or will receive payment from the Devolved Administrations.
  • Interest will be paid to claimants on sums paid after 30 June 2007 on the same basis as the 2005 scheme, i.e. at the 3-Month London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) +1%, calculated from 1 July, subject to a minimum interest payment level of £50.
