Welcome to the scheme information page for Butter for Manufacture.
The aim of this scheme is to dispose of surplus butterfat by encouraging manufacturers to use butter in manufactured products in preference to cheaper vegetable oils.
Subsidy is paid on butter, butteroil and cream processed into certain eligible products (cakes, biscuits, ice cream, soup etc) within regulatory time scales. The scheme is operated on a tender procedure, and either open market or intervention product may be incorporated into the scheme. Tenderers submit claims for subsidy and verification checks are carried out to ensure that butter has been used in accordance with the regulation before subsidy is paid.
The aid rate for this scheme is currently set at zero and tenders under this scheme have been suspended from 12 September 2007 by Regulation (EC) 1039/20007.
