The scheme is available to officially recognised Producer Organisations (POs).

To participate in the scheme, POs must adopt Withdrawal Prices for eligible species based on average prices recorded in the PO's economic area during the previous 3 years and apply appropriate withdrawal prices throughout the year.

If a member of a PO puts fish up for sale for human consumption but cannot find a buyer at or above the pre-set withdrawal price the fish must be permanently withdrawn from the human consumption market and disposed of by an approved method. The PO may then submit a claim for Aid.
