Concentrated Butter for Direct Consumption

Welcome to the scheme information page on the aid for concentrated butter intended for direct consumption.

The aim of this scheme is to dispose of surplus butterfat by encouraging manufacturers to sell butteroil direct to the retail trade for direct consumption, i.e. use in the home, hospitals, restaurants etc. The scheme is operated on a tender basis.

A subsidy is paid on butteroil sold for direct consumption. The butteroil must be manufactured to a set specification, packed and taken over by the retail trade within set time scales. Tenderers submit claims for subsidy and verification checks are carried out to ensure that the butteroil has been sold in accordance with the regulation before subsidy is paid and securities are released.

The aid rate for this scheme is currently set at zero and tenders under the scheme have been suspended from 12/09/07 by Regulation (EC) 1039/2007
