CTS Online


What is CTS Online?

CTS Online is BCMS’ free website that lets you:

  • register cattle births online;
  • report cattle movements on and off your holding;
  • report the death of a registered animal;*
  • record the death of an unregistered animal;
  • check the movement history of an individual animal;


*The cattle passport must still be completed and returned to BCMS within seven days of the date of death.


What else can I do on CTS Online?

  • See details of any problems with reported cattle passports and movements against your holdings.
  • Send information to BCMS using the internet to help resolve any problems.
  • View all births, movements and deaths reported to BCMS in the last six months.
  • Print a receipt with the number of transactions and the details sent.
  • See the calving history for your animals.
  • View the name and address details we have recorded for your holding.
  • Request forms and bar-code labels at the click of a button.
  • Report a batch of movements to us quickly using the upload facility.
  • View any location links you have set up between holdings on CTS.

In response to customer feedback a number of changes and enhancements were released to CTS Online on 26 May 2010.


The improvements include the following.

  • Reporting the death of a Registered Animal. The cattle passport must still be completed and returned to BCMS within seven days of the date of death.
  • Facility to report On and Death movements in one transaction through the upload facility.
  • The ear-tag drop down list will show five eartags rather than three.
  • Receipt date of information at BCMS will now be shown in the transactions list.
  • The total number of events recorded will be shown on the submission receipt.


How do I use CTS Online?


You can access the site through the Government Gateway. This means you can use the same secure login details to access a range of helpful government and farming related services.


Before you can use the new site you must register for the Government Gateway and then enrol for CTS Online. This process is quick and easy and will only take you a few minutes.


If you already use the Government Gateway for other purposes, you just need to enrol for CTS Online.
