On 1 January 2005 the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the revised Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the amended Data Protection Act 1998 came into force. The Freedom of Information Act gives everyone a legal right to be provided, on request, with any recorded information that RPA holds, subject to certain exemptions.
The term 'Access to Information' describes how the Rural Payments Agency (RPA), and other public authorities, manage public access to the many types of information they hold.
Further information relating to 'Access to Information', including details of the RPA Publication Scheme which lists the published information currently available, can be found using the links opposite.
Legislation on access to information has implications for people who provide information to Defra and its agencies (including RPA). For details please see the Defra leaflet 'Access to Information - How will it affect information you supply to Defra?'
The promotion of public access to official information and the protection of personal information is the responsibility of the Information Commissioner's Office. Further information can be found at www.ico.gov.uk
