CTS Web Services is a new internet-based link to the Cattle Tracing System (CTS).

Below are some of the improvements you will find when you use a software package which is compatible with CTS Web Services.

  • It is more reliable than e-mail.
  • The information you send is more secure.
  • CTS Web Services checks some of the information before it is accepted, which leads to early detection and fewer mistakes.
  • If you do make a mistake, only that individual mistake is returned to you not all the information you have sent. Only successful transactions reach the CTS database (see important note below).
  • You can print off a receipt for the information you have sent. (You may need this receipt number if you are calling the helpline with queries.)
  • You can download information about cattle on your holding direct from CTS. (Some packages offer an automatic cross checking facility, which means your records will always be up to date and helps with your cross compliance.)

The software suppliers listed in the link on the left of the page are actively developing software to be compatible with CTS Web Services. These new applications will become available from October 2005.

CTS Web Services change password facility - IMPORTANT MESSAGE

A new and improved CTS Online website will be launched 6 October.

CTS Online users will access the new site via the Government Gateway and will no longer need to use a CTS Online password. CTS Online will no longer have a change password facility available on the site for CTS Web Service users.

However, if users need to change their CTS Web Service password, they can contact the BCMS Helpline and ask for a new password to be re-issued.

Please note: CTS Web Services (cattle on holding function) and CTS Online will not be available 3, 4 and 5 October while we switch to the new service. During these three days you can contact our helpline on 0845 050 1234 (English) or 0845 050 3456 (Welsh) to register applications and movements.

Important note to all CTS Web Services customers

Please make sure you receive a receipt for all transactions you send through CTS Web Services.

When you receive your receipt you must send the receipt number back into CTS Web Services to get the results of the transaction. These results will tell you if your transaction was successful or not. Only successful transactions will reach the Cattle Tracing System.

If you do not receive a receipt then your transaction has not reached CTS Web Services.

If you are unsure how to do this please contact your software package supplier.
