This Soil Protection Review (SPR) 2010 can be downloaded to your own personal computer; you can then complete the boxes and save it ready for an inspection. You can add additional rows to suit your needs as long as all the information requested is provided. The template should then be updated at least annually for your own records. Alternatively, you can choose to complete the SPR online by completing the SPR template version on the Whole Farm Approach website www.wholefarm.defra.gov.uk that includes useful tips and guidance.

Customers wishing to qualify for a full 2010 Single Payment Scheme payment must complete the SPR 2010 template by 31 December 2010 (or by 31 December of the first year they are claiming), with the exception of Part 4, Access to Waterlogged Land, which they must start completing from 1 January 2010 (or 1 January of the first year they are claiming) as part of the Cross Compliance standards (GAEC 1).

The template has to be retained and made available for inspection and should be updated annually or sooner if necessary. An SPR is not required for common land unless the farmer is the sole occupier.
